Support Just Bach Concerts this Giving Tuesday!

Concerts on December 10th at noon and December 15th at 7pm

We have two December programs will feature the musicians of Just Bach Concerts. Our midday concert series at noon will be on December 10 (NOT the 3rd Wednesday!) and include music by Telemann, Bach, and Handel. In addition, Just Bach Concerts will join organist Jared Stellmacher at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Madison on December 15th at 7pm for a performance of Handel’s Messiah.

The November concert by Just Bach Concerts featured viola da gamba and cello works by Handel, Telemann, and Ruhr, plus an anthem by Kremberg. Performers were Anton TenWolde, cello, Charlie Rasmussen, gamba, Matthew Oโ€™Sullivan, organ, and Madelyn Stewart, soprano. Ryne Cherry, baritone, joined to lead the final chorale. You can see the recording below.

Just Bach Concerts was founded to celebrate and to share with the Madison community at large the immense range of Bachโ€™s vocal and instrumental repertoire. Just Bach Concerts presents performers who play and sing using historically-informed performance practice, bringing the music to life in a manner and style with which Bach was familiar. The audience is invited to sing along during the closing chorales โ€“ because group singing is therapeutic!

Just Bach Concerts presents free concerts on Wednesday once a month during the school year as part of the free weekly noontime concert series, Music at Midday, presented by Luther Memorial Church in Madison.

We are extremely grateful to Pastor Brad Pohlman, music director Andrew Schaeffer, and the congregation of Luther Memorial Church for hosting Music at Midday, and for including Just Bach Concerts as a regular part of the series. Special thanks go to Dave Parminter, who records the videos. We invite the Madison community to spend a half-hour with the sublime music of J.S. Bach and hope you will find our performances of Bachโ€™s music to be centering and inspiring.

Just Bach Concerts is supported by Isthmus Eats, Luther Memorial Church, WORT, and by contributions from attendees and supporters. This project is also supported in part by grants from Dane Arts, with additional funds from the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation; The Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times; and the Wisconsin Arts Board and Madison Arts Commission, with additional funds from the State of Wisconsin.
